About
I am a self-taught artist. I have been keen on drawing and painting since I was a child. I started painting with oils as a teenager and had some success selling paintings whilst still at school and then as a medical student in London.
I then had a long career as an ophthalmic surgeon in Gloucestershire, mainly working in the NHS.
After 40 years in the NHS and now, retirement in 2026, I am very excited about having the time to paint again. My work is mainly landscapes, seascapes and cityscapes in oil, but also some life drawing. I have a studio in Cheltenham and with all the time I now have, I am busily painting again to build a portfolio of work to exhibit. I sometimes paint ‘plein air’ but with the unpredictable UK weather, I more often paint from a photo I have taken myself.
I am very excited about the possibilities for this new creative stage of my life.
I really welcome comments about my work, and enquires about commissions and prints.
